The HOOK Jr.
Malayika Senga, born in Belgium – raised in Rwanda and Toronto, has been a serious advocate of promoting talent that comes from Toronto. Fondly known around the city as “Toronto’s Cheerleader”, she has always made it her business to show support to those trying to make it in this industry.
Malayika has volunteered with numerous music based organizations such as Manifesto, UrbanMusicWeek, and CIM, just to name a few. No matter what she's doing, her involvement in music was always at the root of it all. She feels strongly about the importance of supporting a true artist...if you’re hungry, she will feed you.
For 6 years, she studied piano through the Conservatory of Music, as well as dance and choir. It became clear very early that her love of music ran through her as the blood in her veins. Later, working as a Supervisor in the customer service industry, she learned quickly how to effectively communicate with varying people from all walks of life. Now, as a mother of two young children, she's found it a challenge keeping active within the community. What's more, small children aren’t usually allowed to attend music festivals or clubs, which is why she is so excited to cater a section of The HOOK entirely to the children; from kid friendly festivals to music videos & albums(think Kidz Pop). It’s all about bringing together parents (who may also be artist but feel they can’t do much due to their responsibilities), their children and music, while spreading knowledge and support.
Malayika has a huge nurturing personality and wants to use it to make a difference, helping others make their dreams come true. Her innate ability to problem solve and connect the dots both contribute to why she is purusing what she has always been meant to do, change lives of music lovers everywhere one song at a time!
